“The Pink City” Jaipur is the planned city of India. Being the capital of Rajasthan it once has been the capital of royalty. Situated in the desert lands of Rajasthan it catches the admiration of every visitor. It is called “The Pink City” because it is painted in pink and it also attracts people around the globe.

History
In 1727 a Kachhwaha Rajput, Maharaja Jaisingh II was the founder of this beautiful city. The king had great interest in designing the city and so he referred to several books before he planned the layout. Following the principles of Shilpa Shastra (The Indian Architect), the state buildings and palaces were built in two blocks and the other seven blocks were given to the public. Strong gates and huge walls were also made for its security. As it was rich in architectural beauty and culture, the whole city was painted in pink in order to welcome The Prince of Wales in 1853. Every tourist is attracted to this city of victory and it really wins the hearts of the people.

Attractions
The main attractions are Karauli, Ranthambore national Park, Ramgarh Lake, Sambhar, Samode, Sanganer, sariska National Park and Tonk. Other attractions include Amber Fort, City Palace, Hawa Mahal, Jaigarth Fort, Jantar Mantar and Nahargarth Fort.

Karauli
Karauli is a small village founded in 1348.It is famous for a temple called Madan Mohaji. Karauli is also surrounded by walls made of red sandstone and has six gates and eleven posterns. The best part of Karauli is the 600 year old Fort. It was used by the royal family until 1950. Another attraction is Kaila Devi temple. Thousands of devotees come to worship there.

Sambhar
Sambhar is well-known for the largest Saline Lake in India. It is also known as ‘The Salt Lake City’. One can also watch the salt laboratory and salt museum. It the best place for the bird lovers. Sandpipers Pelicans, red shanks, storks, black-winged stilts, shovelers and coots are some admirable birds that are there.

Ramgarh Lake
A huge artificial lake situated 25km away from the city of Jaipur. It is huge enough to satisfy any tourist. Ramgarh lake’s other attraction is the Polo ground which is the best in India.

Ranthambore National Park
Surrounded by the Aravali and Vindhya mountain ranges, the Ranthambore National Park is situated in the east of Rajasthan and is 130km away from Jaipur. This Park is an eye treat for the photographers and the lovers of wildlife. It also includes 300 trees, 300 species of birds, 50 aquatic plants, 30 mammals and 12 reptiles. The main attraction of the park is Ranthambore Fort and the Padam Talao and Jogi Mahal. The forest rest house - Jogi Mahal, has the second largest banyan tree in India. It is a unavoidable place for the tourist.

Samode Palace
The 400 year old Samode Palace is known for its surprising Havilis and Forts. The palace is changed into a heritage hotel. The interiors of the palace are decorated with delicate marble work, colored walls, colorful patterns and traditional art. The other attraction is that the Samode Fort is located above the palace upon the hill. It is a perfect tour palace in Jaipur.

Sanganer
16km away from Jaipur, Sanganer is famous for its hand printed textiles and crafts. It is also famous for its hand made paper industry. One can observe the expert artisans making lovely block prints and fabric patterns on fabrics. Another attraction for the visitors at Sanganer is the Shri Digambar Jain Temple for its fine carvings. It cannot be expressed in words.

Sariska National Park
107km away from Jaipur, this park has temples and monuments. The Siliserh Lake is famous for crocodiles. Sariska Palace which is now converted into heritage hotel is also good place to visit. Jeep safaris are available to explore the sanctuary.

Tonk
This small town is known as “The Lucknow of Rajasthan”. The main places are Sunheri Kothi and some Mosques, Mansions and hovels. Tonk is famous for the leather industry. This small town is full of rich cultural heritage.

Air
The airport is only 15km away from Jaipur. It is also well connected to Delhi and Mumbai.

Rail
Jaipur is connected to different parts of India by a number of trains. Pink City Express starts at 6 in the morning and reaches Jaipur at 11 am.

Road
Jaipur city offers all Indian tourists permit vehicles. Jaipur is linked by the road to the main towns in India.

Weather
Climate of Jaipur is quite extreme. Winters are cool and the summers are highly hot. The nights of winters are bitterly cold. The minimum temperature is 5 degree Celsius and maximum is 45 degree Celsius.

Jaipur is well-known for its Mawa Kachori, Mirchi bada, Rajasthani Subji, Dal Batti Churma and a variety of Chapattis.
