Agastyarkoodam Peak

Towering above a height of over 1868 m above the sea level stands the peak which is a scenic trekking location in Kerala. It is believed that the peak which was the abode of the saint Agasthya will bring to one the best of lives riches, tranquility. The peak which is an abode of thick vegetation will give the traveler a good feel of taking a trek as there will be plenty to watch around.

For those lucky ones who visit the place when the blue flower, Neelakurinji blooms the sight of the flower carpet on the hill will just be a marvellous sight to see. The ideal time to undertake trekking here is between the months of December to April. Situated around 61 km from the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram the place can be visited only after obtaining permit passes from the forest department of Thiruvananthapuram.

Chembra Peak

Rising 2100 m above sea level, the Chembra peak is accessible from Kalpetta, the district center of Wayanad. The trekkers cloud climb through a carpet of tea plantation which offer the fresh aroma of dew and also lush forests which are unexplored by civilization.

This trek is considered a bit risky and hence only experienced and more adventurous trekkers should make an attempt to climb it. A half a day trek will take tourists to the summit where a beautiful lake will infuse a sense of renewed vigour. The travelers could also take help from the local tribes folks who are familiar with even the nook and corner of the forests.

Pythal Mala

Pythal Mala requires trekkers to undertake a arduous 6 kms trek to reach the zenith of the hill. The peak which is situated 4500 feet above the sea level, could give one the view which will remain in memory for a lifetime. The spectacular flora and fauna enroute through which the traveller will have to wade to reach the zenith will make the trek adventurous to the core.

The place located in Kannur district, can be visited during the cool months of January to April. One will also get a feel of the moist mountain wind before the onset of the monsoons in June.

Periyar Tiger Reserve

The trek through this reserve forest area could bring to you an experience which thrill and chills. The place which is known to be an abode of the big cats can also be a trekking destination, if a trip is undertaken with the help of local tribe’s men or forest officers. The place which offers a cover of thick and lush vegetation will offer to the adventurous trekker a reason to be enjoying his walk the most, as he will be able to spot rare wildlife including elephants. If you got to Chembra peak during December, you will see all the grass is golden color. You feel that you are in middle of a gold field.
