Bandhavgarh National Park

A natural habitat for many rare varieties of flora and fauna, the national park which is tucked away in between Vindhya Mountain Ranges is a much acclaimed tourist spot. A trek through the park which is situated 197 km from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh could bring to you the most longed for sight of the big cats – tigers. The park is known to have a very high density of tiger population in the country with a claim of 52 tigers doing the prowl in the area. Other creatures of the wild which are found in the area include Nilgai, Chausingha, Chital, Chinkara, Wild Boar, Fox and Jackal.

There are guided tours which are available to take the curious tourist across the length and breadth of the park, revealing even least visited abodes of nature. Elephant Safaris offered at the place will bring to you the sight of almost all the animal habitat of the place. The safaris which take one through the road less trodden are known to be something which many visitors enjoy. There are also jeep trips available to tour the place.

Bandipur National Park

The place which made is marked in history as the first national park of India, Bandipur is known for the green and cool atmosphere it provides to refresh its visitors. The place located in Karnataka which has grown a mix of deciduous forests, evergreen forests and scrub all watered by the Moyar River provides the traveller with an exploratory trip which quiet exciting with a fresh feel. The animal life which one gets to encounter in the park include Asian elephant, gaur, sambhar, chital, mouse deer, four horned antelope, wild pig, black naped hare and the Indian porcupine.

Interestingly, the park is also a tiger reserve where over 66 wild cats prowl around during the light of day. With a guided tour of the place which can be booked in advance by consulting the state tourism department or licensed guide agencies one can get a good feel of the wild. The best time to visit Bandipur will be the time from April to October. During summer, the backwaters of the Kabini Reservoir provide the best opportunity to the tourists to observe large mammals, especially the elephant and the gaur. The Bangalore airport is the nearest airport and is 220 km away from Bandipur. The nearest railhead is Nanjangud, 55 kms away.

Corbett National Park

The first wildlife reserve of India, extending over an area of more than 500 sq km in the Himalayan foothills, Corbett National Park is one place a traveller in love with nature should not miss. Known as the place where Project Tiger, meant to conserve the wild beast initiated the park had assumed much significance.

The Main animals found in the national park wildlife found in the Corbett National Park include the tiger, elephant, chital, sambar, nilgai, gharial, King Cobra, muntjac, wild boar, hedgehog, common musk shrew, flying fox and Indian Pangolin. In the avian population side, the park is very rich with nearly 600 species of birds. Corbett National Park receives thousands of visitors every year. A variety of facilities are available to house tourists within and outside the park.

The park which is located in Uttaranchal is 260 km from the capital of the country, New Delhi and 76 km from Nainital, a nearby hill station. While Delhi will be the nearest railway and airport destination, one could easily reach the place on road.
